The Indonesian Algebra Society Seminar (IASS) 2025 was successfully held 100% offline at the Department of Mathematics, University of Mataram, on 23–24 October 2025. This annual academic event was organized by the Indonesian Algebra Society in collaboration with the Algebra and Combinatorics Research Group of the University of Mataram.
This year’s seminar gathered a total of 71 participants from four countries — Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia — marking an important step in strengthening regional cooperation and research collaboration in algebra.
From Indonesia, the participants represented a broad range of universities across the archipelago, including institutions from Aceh, Padang, Lampung, Makassar, Gorontalo, Maluku, Jakarta, Bandung, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Malang, Surabaya, Bali and Mataram. The diversity of participants and research areas created an engaging and inspiring environment for mathematical exchange and collaboration.
Keynote Speakers
The seminar featured four distinguished keynote speakers who delivered thought-provoking talks on recent advances and applications of algebra:
- Prof. Nor Haniza Sarmin (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia)
- Prof. Yeni Susanti (Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia)
- Dr. Samruam Buapradist (Chulalongkorn University, Thailand)
- Dr. Nur Idayu Alimon (Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia)
Their presentations provided valuable perspectives on current trends in algebraic research, ranging from theoretical developments to interdisciplinary applications.
Opening Remarks
In his opening address, Dr. I Gede Adhitya Wisnu Wardhana, Chair of the Organizing Committee, expressed his gratitude to the participants and partner institutions.
“This seminar reflects our collective commitment to building a strong and connected community of algebraists across Southeast Asia. I sincerely thank all speakers and participants for their enthusiasm and contribution to the success of IASS 2025,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Dr. Nikken Prima Puspita, President of the Indonesian Algebra Society, also conveyed her appreciation and hopes for future collaboration.
“IASS has become a meaningful platform to bring together mathematicians and researchers in algebra. Through this event, we hope to continue nurturing collaboration, innovation, and the active participation of young scholars in advancing algebraic research,” she remarked.
Parallel Sessions and Best Presenter Awards
Over two days, the seminar featured keynote talks, invited lectures, and parallel sessions covering various topics in algebra, combinatorics, and related mathematical structures. Discussions throughout the sessions demonstrated the participants’ high level of engagement and dedication to developing mathematical research in the region.
As part of the program, the committee recognized exceptional student presentations through the Best Presenter Awards. Based on the evaluation criteria — including background, objectives, mathematical foundation, presentation skills, and time management — the following participants were selected as the Best Presenters of IASS 2025:
- Dimas Indrawadi (University of Mataram)
- Agustia Slamet Noor Fadhilah (Institut Teknologi Bandung)
- Dy Outdom (Universitas Gadjah Mada)
Each awardee received a Certificate of Best Presenter as recognition for their outstanding presentation performance and contribution to the seminar’s academic discussions.
